Amazingly, AMC doesn’t carry nickels. What is this business thinking?

The ticket was $9 and I had $8 and some change to get rid of. So I paid with 3 quarters and 3 dimes which would have had me with a nickel change. The ticket seller told me they don’t carry nickels and if I want my nickel I have to go to the Guest Services desk. I thought this was a bit odd so I went to Guest Services where I was told again…they don’t carry any nickels in the drawers. So I asked to speak to the manager.

The manager came over… he told me it’s policy that AMC doesn’t have any change in any drawers. Now I am not bent out of shape over a nickel, I am just utterly confused that a major movie theater chain would not have any coin change in any cash drawers (except maybe concessions). I asked for the managers name and he got an attitude and asked for mine which I gladly wrote down for him.

Looks like Intel has some explaining to do after this idiotic advertisement.

Intel’s intent of our ad titled “Multiply Computing Performance and Maximize the Power of Your Employees” was to convey the performance capabilities of our processors through the visual metaphor of a sprinter. We have used the visual of sprinters in the past successfully.

Unfortunately, our execution did not deliver our intended message and in fact proved to be insensitive and insulting. Upon recognizing this, we attempted to pull the ad from all publications but, unfortunately, we failed on one last media placement.

We are sorry and are working hard to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

Weird Asian News:

Recently some restaurants in Guangdong, China, have been promoting a popular dish called “water boiled live cat�.

The way the restaurants kill the cats is very cruel and inhumane. One of the chefs even says “the more torture the cats receive, the better they taste.�

They use a bat and beat the cats until they pass out; then throw them into hot water and boil them alive, then de-skin and cook them again.

Customers go out back and pick which cat they want to eat and the chef will beat the chosen cat half to dead and boil it alive. Not just wild cats end up on the dinner table, some high class cats like Persians will end up a meal as well.

Sioux Falls police arrested 60-year old Verle Peter Dills on Tuesday after he was caught performing an unnamed sex act in another resident’s yard. The Argus Leader reports that while searching his home, police uncovered a “large amount” of video showing Dills masturbating to and having sex with various traffic signs. Dills is charged with burglary, unlawful occupancy and six separate acts of public indecency.

A Sicilian mother took away her 61-year-old son’s house keys, cut off his allowance and hauled him to the police station because he stayed out late.

Tired of her son’s misbehavior, the retiree in the central Sicilian city of Caltagirone turned to the police to “convince this blockhead” to behave properly, La Sicilia, one of Sicily’s leading newspapers, reported on Thursday.

Ouch My Toe:

On 19 July a contest titled “Can you put words into my mouth?� was announced on Ouchmytoe.com.

In spite of the measly prize money (Rs 500)…the responses have overshot the condition I had set by 40% and the post ended up with 42 comments. Makes me wonder if I should start contributing to the wealth of my readers (Ouchmytoe have been contributing to their health for a long time now – laughter is medicine, they said – remember?)
